Who it’s for: Authors who have a draft in progress, but are unclear on what to do next. This “quick read” provides a scholar/editor’s view on what’s working, what’s not, and what direction to head in. Get revisions underway faster than you could on your own, and increase your text’s chances of being accepted for publication.
How it works:
Complete a questionnaire detailing what kind of feedback you’re looking for.
Leslie gives the piece a Diagnostic Read with attention to the issues you specify, and writes a one-page Report with feedback & ideas for moving forward.
We meet in a Zoom session to discuss the Report and recommended next steps.
What you get:
A Diagnostic Read of your text
A written one-page Report with the feedback
A one-hour Zoom review session to talk through the Report
Video recording & transcript of the session
Who it’s for: Authors who’ve gotten reviewer feedback on an article, but aren’t clear on how to move forward. I’ll help you make sense of unclear reviews, conflicting directions, and figure out a way forward. Get revisions underway faster than you could on your own, and increase the chances of your piece being accepted for publication.
How it works:
In a first Zoom session, we discuss the challenges you’re encountering with your article — whether it’s conflicting reviews, unclear feedback, or any other issues you’d like me to look at.
Then, I do a Diagnostic Read to evaluate the piece’s argument, evidence, structure, and tone, spelling out the needed changes in a roadmap for revisions. We’ll walk through these together in session #2.
After you implement the roadmap, we’ll meet again in a third session to review your changes and ensure the piece is ready to submit — or recommend additional tweaks before you do.
What you get:
3 one-hour-long sessions
A Diagnostic Read & evaluation of your text
A Revisions Roadmap and advice for implementing it
2 reviews of your document: Before & after revisions
Video recordings & transcripts of all three sessions
Add-Ons:
A copy-edit of the revised piece prior to submission (additional $500-750).
Additional rounds of review @ $150/each
Who it’s for: For recent PhDs who need to figure out how to turn their dissertation into a book, but aren’t clear how to get there. It doesn’t seem like it should be a big leap, but there’s a big difference between writing for your committee versus writing for a broader academic audience — and grad school doesn’t teach you how to do it.
How it works: Over 6 hour-long Zoom sessions, we’ll assess the state of the dissertation: clarifying your argument and its unique contribution to the field, figuring out whether its current structure & chapters support that argument, and creating a roadmap for the book you want to write.
What you get:
6 one-hour-long sessions
A Diagnostic Read & point-by-point evaluation of your text
A Revisions Roadmap and guidance in implementing it
Ongoing editorial reviews of your document
Video recordings & transcripts of all sessions
Add-Ons:
Additional review/evaluation of your manuscript after you implement the revisions
Discounted copy-edit of the full book manuscript
